Guests’ Guide

We’ve put this together to support our friends who are traveling in from out of town.

A Weekend Affair

American weddings are slightly different than a British wedding. Where a British wedding tends to be a full-day affair, with the ceremony in the morning all the way through to dinner. In America, the wedding tends to be a weekend affair for out of town guests.

The events of the weekend include:

  • Friday Night: Rehearsal Dinner
  • Saturday Afternoon: Wedding Ceremony
  • Saturday Evening: Wedding Reception

In addition to those events, we will be trying to arrange for Greek Dancing Lessons on Thursday evening, which will be open to any of our friends and family to join.

Accommodation

Worcester is the second-largest city in New England and Massachusetts. It is an hour away from Boston. There are a variety of hotels in the city ranging from budget to fancy.

We’ve secured hotel room blocks at the hotel within walking distance of the wedding venue. It is available from Wednesday through Tuesday at a discounted rate.

While Worcester does have Aribnbs there are not a lot of them. We have collated a list in Worcester and the nearby towns.

Getting to Worcester

Worcester has it’s own local airport (Code ORH). In non-pandemic years there have been connecting flights from New York JFK, Detroit and Philadelphia.

Worcester also has a train station with a direct commuter line to Boston’s South Station to Worcester’s Union Station, with trains running roughly every 1-2 hours. It’s a 1-1.5 hour journey depending on the express train or stopper service.

There is also a bus/coach station also direct from Boston’s South Station which drops passengers off next to Worcester’s Union Station.

Knights Limousine service runs a shared shuttle from Boston Logan to any address in the Worcester region. And Uber & Lyft are ride share options to travel from Boston to Worcester, and cost roughly $80 one way.
